Shen Wei Dance Arts, a modern dance company based in New York City, seeks a full-time Executive Director to begin in mid-November, 2009.

In 2010, SWDA celebrates its 10th Anniversary Season; tours on four continents; expands its educational efforts into 360 classrooms in four cities; produces a new evening-length dance; initiates two major residencies; and launches capital and planned giving campaigns.

The successful candidate will report to the Artistic Director and Board of Directors and supervise all activity in new business development; fundraising strategy; Board and donor cultivation; outreach and education; press and marketing; development; touring; production; information technology; and human resources. The Executive Director, working with the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors, will also manage the company’s budget.

Candidates should have a strong background in both theatrical production and not-for-profit arts management.

Candidates should have a proven record of facilitating institutional, government, corporate, and individual sponsorships. The ideal candidate will have experience engineering capital and annual campaigns.

Knowledge of the modern dance industry and its players preferred. Some travel required.
