New York C ity Ballet names Katherine E. Brown, former the Chief Executive Officer of New York public radio station WNYC, to the new post of Executive Director of the New York City Ballet. She will work alongside Artistic Director Peter Martins, overseeing all non-artistic aspects, including finance, fund-raising, marketing, PR and education – all previously supervised by Martins and General Manager Ken Tabachnick, the latter of whom is leaving the company. Brown, 55, starts her new job Dec. 14 and will report to the board of directors. NYC Ballet has a budget of $60 million and has been running a deficit for the last five years. WNYC has a budget of $40 million.
